Arabic-first music and entertainment streaming platform headquartered in Abu Dhabi

About Anghami

Anghami was one of the first companies to bring legal music streaming to the Arab world. Founded in 2012 by Eddy Maroun and Elie Habib, it started in Beirut and later moved its headquarters to Abu Dhabi.

The platform was built around Arabic music at a time when global streaming services had little regional content. Anghami licensed catalogues from Arab labels and artists, alongside international music, and offered free listening with ads as well as paid Plus subscriptions without ads and with offline downloads.

Partnerships with telecom operators across the region helped it grow, allowing customers to pay through their phone bills in markets where many people did not use credit cards.

Over the years, Anghami added podcasts, live audio, concerts and events, and original productions, and it built tools for Arab artists to reach listeners and understand their audiences.

In 2022, Anghami became the first Arab technology company to list on Nasdaq in New York, through a merger with a special purpose acquisition company. In 2024, OSN Group took a majority stake, combining Anghami with the OSN+ video streaming service under one entertainment business.

Its move to Abu Dhabi reflected the emirate's push to attract technology and media companies, supported by the media free zone twofour54.

Anghami competes with global platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music, and its advantage has always been a deep understanding of Arabic music and listeners.

Startups UAE lists Anghami among the best-known technology companies founded in the Arab world.
