Abu Dhabi-based producer of nitrogen fertilisers and ammonia, majority-owned by ADNOC

About Fertiglobe

Fertiglobe is one of the world's largest seaborne exporters of nitrogen fertilisers and ammonia. It was created in 2019 as a partnership between ADNOC and the Dutch-listed fertiliser company OCI, and listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange in 2021. ADNOC later became its majority shareholder.

The company's production plants are located in the UAE, Egypt and Algeria, close to supplies of natural gas, the main raw material for ammonia.

Its main products are urea and ammonia. Urea is one of the most widely used fertilisers in the world, helping farmers increase crop yields, while ammonia is used both as a fertiliser ingredient and in industrial applications.

Most of its output is exported to agricultural markets in Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa.

Fertiglobe is also involved in developing low-carbon ammonia. Ammonia produced with renewable energy or with captured carbon could be used as a cleaner fuel for shipping and power generation, and as a way to transport hydrogen.

Fertiliser prices are closely linked to natural gas prices and global agricultural demand, which makes the business cyclical.
