About Foton UAE
Foton is one of China's largest makers of commercial vehicles, producing trucks, vans, pickups and buses. Its vehicles are sold in the UAE through a local distributor.
The range covers light, medium and heavy trucks used for distribution, construction and logistics, along with vans for deliveries and buses for passenger transport.
Commercial vehicle buyers focus on purchase price, fuel consumption, payload, durability and the availability of service and spare parts, since vehicle downtime costs money.
Foton has worked with international partners, including a joint venture with Daimler in China, which has helped it develop truck technology.
Chinese commercial vehicles have become more common in the Gulf as fleets look for cost-effective options.
The UAE's logistics, construction and trading sectors create a large market for trucks and vans.
Foton is a Chinese company rather than a UAE startup, and Startups UAE lists its UAE presence among the country's commercial vehicle brands.
