Jebel Ali Free Zone, known as JAFZA, is one of the largest and oldest free zones in the world. It was established in 1985 next to Jebel Ali Port and is part of DP World.
JAFZA was a pioneer of the free zone model in the region. It offered foreign companies full ownership, exemption from customs duties for goods passing through and simple licensing, at a time when these were rare. Its success helped inspire dozens of other free zones in the UAE.
