About Malaffi
Abu Dhabi Health Data Services operates Malaffi, the Abu Dhabi Health Information Exchange. Malaffi means "my file" in Arabic, and the platform was launched in 2019 under the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi.
Malaffi connects healthcare providers across the emirate, both public and private, so that a patient's important medical information can be shared securely between hospitals, clinics, laboratories and pharmacies.
When a patient visits a new doctor, the doctor can see relevant information such as diagnoses, allergies, medications, lab results and radiology reports, helping avoid duplicate tests and errors.
Health information exchanges improve the continuity of care, especially for patients who see several doctors or move between providers.
Privacy and security are central. Access is controlled, and data is shared under regulations designed to protect patient confidentiality.
