About OpenSooq UAE
OpenSooq is an online classifieds marketplace founded in Jordan in 2012. It operates across several Middle Eastern countries, including the UAE, where users post and browse ads for things to buy, sell and rent.
The platform covers categories such as cars, real estate, electronics, mobile phones, furniture, jobs and services. Sellers post listings with photos and prices, and buyers contact them directly through calls or in-app chat.
OpenSooq built its business around mobile, with apps that make it easy to post an ad from a phone in a few minutes.
Classifieds platforms earn revenue through paid features, such as promoting listings to appear at the top of search results, and from professional sellers such as car dealers and real estate agents.
In the UAE, OpenSooq competes with established platforms such as Dubizzle, which has a strong position in the local market.
Users of classifieds sites should take care with scams, meeting sellers in safe places and avoiding advance payments for items they have not seen.
OpenSooq is a Jordan-founded company rather than a UAE startup, and Startups UAE lists it among the classifieds platforms available in the UAE.
