Sharjah's government utility for electricity, water and natural gas

About Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA)

The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, known as SEWA, provides electricity, water and natural gas to homes and businesses in the emirate of Sharjah. It was established in 1995.

SEWA is unusual among UAE utilities because it also supplies piped natural gas to many residential buildings, which residents use for cooking and water heating.

The authority manages power generation, water desalination and distribution networks, and it handles customer accounts, billing and connections.

Sharjah's growing population and industrial sector have increased demand for utilities, and SEWA has invested in new infrastructure to keep up.

Like other UAE utilities, SEWA has been working on energy efficiency, smart meters, digital services and renewable energy as part of national sustainability goals.

Residents interact with SEWA when setting up utilities for new homes, paying bills and requesting services, increasingly through its app and online channels.
