About Sheraa
Sheraa, the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center, is a government-backed organisation that supports startups and entrepreneurs in Sharjah. It was established in 2016 and is based at the American University of Sharjah.
Sheraa runs programmes for founders at different stages. Its accelerator helps startups refine their business models, find customers and prepare for investment, while earlier-stage programmes support students and first-time founders turning ideas into businesses.
It also connects startups with government entities and corporations through challenges and pilot opportunities, helping young companies win their first contracts.
Sheraa organises the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival, an annual event that brings together founders, investors, speakers and the wider community.
The organisation has supported hundreds of startups, many founded by young Emiratis and residents of Sharjah, across sectors such as technology, education, sustainability and creative industries.
Sharjah's government has made entrepreneurship part of its development plans, with Sheraa working alongside SRTIP and universities to build the emirate's startup ecosystem.
Startups UAE lists Sheraa among the UAE's startup support organisations.
