About Rotana Cinema
Rotana Cinema is a television channel that shows Arabic films. It is part of Rotana Group, a major Arab media and entertainment company founded by Saudi investor Prince Alwaleed bin Talal.
Rotana built one of the largest libraries of Arabic films, particularly classic and modern Egyptian cinema, which has been central to Arab popular culture for decades. Rotana Cinema broadcasts these films to audiences across the Middle East and North Africa.
The wider Rotana Group has included music labels, television channels, radio and other media businesses. Rotana's music arm has represented many of the Arab world's best-known singers.
Television channels like Rotana Cinema have adapted to the rise of streaming by making content available online and through digital platforms.
Arabic film libraries are valuable assets as streaming services compete for content that appeals to regional audiences.
Rotana has had operations in several Arab countries, including the UAE, where the media sector is concentrated in Dubai Media City and twofour54.
Rotana Cinema is part of a Saudi-founded media group rather than a UAE startup, and Startups UAE lists it among the Arabic media brands watched in the UAE.
