About Alshaya UAE
Alshaya Group is a Kuwaiti family business and one of the largest retail franchise operators in the world. It runs stores, cafés and restaurants for international brands across the Middle East, Africa and beyond, including many in the UAE.
Its brand portfolio spans several categories. In food and drink, it operates brands such as Starbucks, Shake Shack and The Cheesecake Factory in the region. In fashion and beauty, it runs H&M, Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body Works, American Eagle, Mothercare and others, along with home brands like Pottery Barn and West Elm.
Franchising is how most international retail and restaurant brands enter the Gulf. Alshaya handles store openings, staffing, supply chains, marketing and increasingly e-commerce for each brand in its territories.
The group has invested in digital commerce, operating online stores and apps for many of its brands, with delivery and click-and-collect services.
Alshaya employs tens of thousands of people and is one of the most important companies in the region's consumer economy.
Alshaya is a Kuwaiti company rather than a UAE startup, and Startups UAE lists its UAE operations among the country's retail groups.
